About
Racer X – Second Heat
Roadrunner Records – RR 9601 | 1987 Original Pressing

Initially released in 1987 on Roadrunner Records (RR 9601), Second Heat is the second studio album by the US heavy metal band Racer X, and a testament to their technical brilliance. The lineup features Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet on blistering dual guitars, Jeff Martin on vocals, Juan Alderete on bass, and Scott Travis on drums, delivering high-speed riffs and complex arrangements that defined the shred metal genre.

This edition includes standout tracks like “Scarified,” “Gone Too Far,” “Hammer Away,” and “Heart of a Lion” (a rare Judas Priest track). Also includes a fiery cover of David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream.” The record blends neoclassical metal, thrash intensity, and melodic hooks in a tight, aggressive mix.

This Roadrunner pressing is a highly sought-after original and captures the band at their peak—a classic for fans of fast, technical metal that combines precision and power.
